This site is about the Middle East, its people and their dreams. It attempts to bring some years of explorations and travel in this wonderful region along with my journalistic and academic work that attempted to further understand and analyze its complex realities. The Middle East was blessed with rich history since the first documented attempt to develop agriculture in the region around 10,000 BC and ever since the emergence of the early civilizations around 3000 BC, in Mesopotamia (Iraq). The Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Egyptians, Israelites and others have planted the seeds to much of the world we know today. The Persian Empire of Achaemenids, the Macedonian Empire founded by Alexander the Great, the successor kingdoms of Ptolemaic Egypt and the Seleucid state in Syria have led the ancient world and later planted the seeds to much of the world we know today.

But the same region had its share of shattered dreams as well. It witnessed its fair share of wars that were often triggered by the fervor of religious sanctity. It had seen empire collapse and new civilizations emerge. It become the cradle for the four monotheistic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the Baha’i faith). It drew new state lines and witnessed new waves of nationalism, revolutions and, recently, extremism and terror.

But above all, it remains home, to me and many dear people I consider friends and partners for the effort of making the Middle East what it should be: a land full of magic, sanctity and peace. This website is dedicated to all those who believe in this wonderful land and to those who are suffering and risking their live to make it better.
